Workshop for Brownie Scouts
For the "Dolls, Puppets and Plays" Try-It Badge

See a puppet play and learn to put on your own! This one-hour presentation includes:

• A half-hour puppet show
• A question and answer session
• A demonstration of 5 simple puppets that children can make
• A handout for leaders with puppet patterns and how-to instructions for all puppet types and ideas for puppet skits

The fee is $150. (plus mileage: 50 cents a mile roundtrip from Cranston, RI)
You may invite other troops to defray the cost.  The more the merrier!

Workshops for Teachers & Librarians

Enthrall children with stories dramatized by lively puppets that are easy to make and fun to use! This workshop includes a short performance, a lecture-demonstration of different puppet types and a hands-on experience in performing with puppets. It will enable you to perform short skits yourself  and/or lead puppet workshops for children. The handout provided has patterns, stories and performing ideas to take back to the classroom or library. The format is flexible and can be adapted to your needs and interests.  The fee is $275. plus mileage (50 cents a mile roundtrip from Cranston, RI.)

Workshop leader Sparky Davis began using puppets to dramatize stories while working as a children's librarian. She has degrees in English, education and library science and has been performing professionally since 1977. A self-taught puppeteer who enjoys sharing what she has learned, she has presented this workshop at the New England Library Association Regional Conference, Connecticut Librarians' regional roundtables, and at Puppets: Education Magic, a conference for teachers.
